UT Adobe Audit
As part of Adobe’s customer base, The University of Tennessee System has been selected to undergo an Adobe software license review to ensure that Adobe software is being utilized in compliance with the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreements (“EULA”). Two of the requirements for this audit include:
- Gathering software installation data from personal computers (including desktops and laptops) and servers; in both Windows and Mac environments.
- Gathering purchase records for any and all Adobe products.
Gathering the software installation data
Information on the procedure for gathering server data will be distributed soon. Gathering information from personal computers involves on of three ways. Please read all options to see which applies to you.
On Campus Windows Computers
- If you see an icon on your desktop called "UTC Adobe Audit"
, click on the icon to run the program.
- If you don't see the icon then download the script: AdobeAudit.
- Run the script on your computer to produce a text file named AdobeScan_ComputerName.txt (which will automatically be saved to your computer's desktop).
- If you see a message "No disk in drive" click continue.
- You will need to email the file that is created as an attachment to utcadobe@utc.edu
Off Campus Windows Computers
- You will need to download the script: AdobeAudit
- Run the script on your computer to produce a text file named AdobeScan_ComputerName.txt (which will automatically be saved to your computer's desktop).
- You will need to email the file as an attachment to utcadobe@utc.edu
Mac OS X - On and Off Campus
- Download the files: AdobeLister
- Save the files to your computer.
- Double click on the AdobeLister.zip file
- Double click on AdobeLister2009

- After the scan finishes, it will create a file on the desktop. Called AdobeListerReports...txt. You will need to email this report as an attachment.
- Open your email and send the file as an attachment to utcadobe@utc.edu
Older Mac OS X (10.4)
- Download the files: AdobeLister2006
- Double click on the AdobeLister.zip file
- Double click on AdobeLister2006
- After the scan finishes, it will create a file on the desktop. Called AdobeListerReports...txt. You will need to email this report as an attachment.
- Open your email and send the file as an attachment to utcadobe@utc.edu
Note: Users can continue to work as normal while the scan is being performed. However, the script and resulting .txt file must not be edited in any way.
Here are some additional notes regarding software installation data:
- As a general rule, all Adobe software will be subject to review, irrespective of the date it was installed.
- De-installation does not remove accountability for past usage or installation. If software is found to have been de-installed to cure non-compliancy, then the user will be asked to license the de-installed software anyway.
- Upon submission of required records, Adobe will compare UT’s software deployment with its license purchases and the terms of the associated EULAs. Adobe will then submit a findings report including complete license reconciliation for UT’s records.
- All compliance findings (i.e., deficits in licensing) must be resolved by purchasing the deficient licenses immediately and no later than 14 days from the notification of findings by Adobe.
