Windows Mobile 5 - UTC Exchange Setup

The Following Document, details the steps necessary to setup your Mobile 5 Device to sync with the Exchange Server located on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's campus.

  1. Click on the Windows Logo located in the top left screen of you device.
  2. Select Programs
  3. Double click on ActiveSync to access your sync settings
  4. If you see the screen below then continue to Step 5. Otherwise click skip to Troubleshooting,

  5. Click on Menu located on the bottom right corner of your screen and select "Add Server Source".

  6. Type in the following "exchange.utc.edu" (no parenthesis) into the Server Address: field. Make sure the "This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection is checked. (THEN CLICK NEXT).

  7. Fill in the information:
    • Username: (Your UTCID)
    • Password: (Your password)
    • Domain: labdir.utc.edu
  8. Place a checkbox into the Save Password area. Please note that if you chose not to save the password you will not be able to do automatic syncing. Click Next.
  9. Select those items you chose to sync with your Exchange Account then click Finish.

  10. Your device should start synchronizing.

Troubleshooting

f the screen in step 4 looked similar to the image below then you need to delete the server that is already setup ( you may have had it setup to sync through your Outlook client). the following steps will help you remove that server setting.Synchronizing folders

  1. Click on menu, located in the bottom right corner of your screen. Select Options.
    Menu select options
  2. Select the Server name and click on DELETE.
  3. Select YES at this point. The message is pretty clear that it only effects the syncing that you have setup with your Outlook Client. If you chose to return to the outlook sync then you will need to reverse this process.

  4. Return to Step 5 above.
